Caledonia, JJ's Bohemia, Five Spot

We had a great time this past weekend in Athens and Chattanooga. Friday, we drove to the Caledonia Lounge and pretty much walked in and played. It was kind of a strange evening, but offset by the general goodness of Athens, GA and the Caledonia staff. After our set, Robbs, Julia and I walked to Little Italy Pizzaria for a late dinner. Unfortunately, we missed Iron Hero while eating, but caught an excellent set by Kuroma.

Saturday, we were back doing the hometown thing with Heypenny and Iron Hero. After soundcheck, we went over to the Pickle Barrel for some food and beverage. The guys from Iron Hero ended up there as well. They got a balcony table while we were stuck downstairs (bastards). Soon thereafter, the Heypenny entourage joined us (I think they had 8 people in their crew - no joke). We considered calling a cheap-A limo to drive us the 4 blocks back to JJ’s, but we wouldn’t have all fit.

The show itself went really well. Iron Hero put on a great set of psych rock with drum loops and noise. They even had a projector running while they played. Heypenny was awesome as usual, and I think our set was one of our best yet.

We have 4 new songs in the works which’ll probably be ready in time for those June dates with Heypenny

And we return to East Nashville next Saturday (5/17) at the Five Spot with Tristen and Matt Pelham (solo). Looking forward to seeing all our friends in Nashville again.
